There are three important steps for every homemade pedicure: soak, exfoliate and moisturize. With summer fast approaching, my feet are in desperate need of a nice pedicure! I made all three recipes with a mint fragrance oil that is soothing and relaxing.

Homemade Pedicure
There are three things you want to do with any pedicure: Soak, Exfoliate and Moisturize.

Soak
The first step for a homemade pedicure is to soak your feet.
As we all know, soaking our feet is a great way to relieve stress, deodorize and soften dry feet. Although it is relaxing, the main purpose is to soften calluses before we exfoliate.

We use this, because it’s ability to soften our feet, relaxation and it’s detoxification properties.
I am using buttermilk powder, because of its higher concentration of lactic acid, which works to remove the dead skin cells and to soften feet.
We use this, because it can help with eliminating odors. It is also able to help with softening the skin, again, making it easier to exfoliate.

Exfoliate
After you have soaked your feet, on to the next step…. exfoliating.
Exfoliating is important to slough off the old dead skin cells and will increase blood flow to our skin cells. After exfoliating, you will notice immediately the difference in the feel of your skin.
In a circular motion, you will want to rub your pumice powder foot soap. This exfoliating soap is perfect for two things: The soap is going to clean your feet and the pumice will exfoliate the dead rough skin. It is important to remember that you want to use a gentle pressure, as we dont want to damage our skin.
Exfoliating Pumice Soap Ingredients
I am using a white base, but feel free to use any one that you would like.
A lightweight stone that comes from ground up volcano stone. It is a great exfoliator for your feet. This is not the type of exfoliator that you would want to use on any sensitive areas, but it is perfect for our feet!

Moisturize
After you have soaked and exfoliated your feet, it is super important that you moisturize.
You want to moisturize to be sure to protect that newly revealed layer of skin. You want to use a ultra-hydrating moisturizer to protect that fresh layer of skin and to lock in moisture.
I made this whipped butter without heating the oils. To see how to make it with heating the oils check out my Whipped Body Butter post.
Foot Butter Ingredients
Melts on contact with your skin and is a great moisturizer. It has emollient properties that leave your skin smooth and soft.
Leaves your feet feeling smooth and conditioned. It is not an oil that is going to absorb quickly, so you have some time if you want to give your feet a nice massage while applying the butter.
Mint Fragrance Oil
The fragrance oil that I am using is a Mad About Mint, which has a very low usage rate. If you are using a fragrance oil that has a higher usage rate, just adjust accordingly.
