There is something that I love about a face cleanser that you have to activate. This powder to foam face cleanser is actually stored in powder form. It is not until you are ready to use it, that you activated it with water.
I love the gentle exfoliating that all the clays add to the powder to foam face cleanser. And, that we can have clays in a face wash!

How to Use
Simply add the powder to your hand or a bowl. Start adding in water and mixing until the powder is fully dissolved. Then use the mixture to wash your face.
Our gentle surfactant (SLSa) is what creates the bubbles. We use just enough to get a good face cleaning, while allowing the other ingredients to shine. This is not a super bubbly face cleaner, it is more of a gentle exfoliating face cleanser.
Why does the face cleanser have to be a powder?
Great for Traveling
Anytime I am traveling, I prefer bar or powders to any liquid products. Seriously, it does not matter how carefully I pack, something always breaks open. Just pop this powder face cleaner in your bag and you will be ready to go!
Hard to Preserve Clays
The terrific thing about making a powder to foam cleanser, is that you are able to use skin loving clays that you normally couldn’t use in a face wash. Clays are notorious for being difficult to preserve in skin care products. However, since we are not adding any water to this until you are using it, we can use our favorite clays.

No Preservative
Another benefit of this powder face cleanser, is that there is no need for a preservative. Perfect for those that prefer to only make products that are preservative free.
Powder Face Cleanser Ingredients
Clays
Kaolin White Clay is very fine and super mild clay. It is suitable for normal, dry and sensitive skin because it does not really absorb oils. We use this clay to gently exfoliate and cleanse our face.
This clay is rich in nutrients (iron, aluminum, potassium and calcium). Dead sea clay is said to remove toxins from our skin and is a gentle exfoliating agent.
Rose petal powder actually smells like rose petals. It acts as a natural cleanser, exfoliator and has antioxidant properties.
Surfactant
Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSA)
SLSA is a gentle surfactant that is derived from sustainable feed stocks. It is a foaming and cleaning agent that leaves your skin feeling soft and silky. The great thing about SLSa is that it does not dry out your skin.
Thickening Agents
We use xanthan gum as a natural thickener for this face cleanser. Xanthan gum increases the viscosity of the finished product. When you add water to the gum, it creates a gel like consistency. I find that this adds a nice glide to the face wash.
Arrowroot powder is another thickener. Much like xanthan gum, it also makes a gel like product when it is used. It does absorb sebum a little bit and helps to soften our skin.
Soothing Agent
The colloidal oatmeal is soothing to stressed and blemished skin. It is an anti-irritant and helps to relieve dry skin.
