This Monkey Farts Lip Balm is formulated to be super hydrating. Once you put the lip balm on it is thinner than what you would expect of a balm, maybe closer to a lip gloss consistency. I love the fruity smell of the monkey farts flavoring, it just takes this up to a new level.

Lip Salve Ingredients
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a great moisturizer. The high fat content is what makes this oil solid at room temperature. It melts at roughly skin temperature. This makes the lip salve just a little thinner once you put it on.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is said to be good for soothing dry and chapped lips. It absorbs quickly into your skin and has a similar makeup to our skin’s sebum. Since our lips do not produce sebum, it is one of the best oils to use.
Beeswax
We use beeswax because it is an emollient that is very moisturizing for our lips. It is rich in Vitamin A, which is said to promote cell regeneration and improve hydration. It is also used to help to thicken our salve up a bit, so its not liquid at room temperature.
Lanolin
Lanolin is an emollient that will help with retaining moisture and help to soften our lips. It actually comes from sheep’s skin glands and is similar to the sebum that our skin produces. Since our lips do not have glands that produce sebum, this can really help to hydrate. Although many products sit on top of our skin, lanolin is said to be able to penetrate the skin. (And since it is often used with breast feeding moms for chapped skin, we know it can help with chapped skin).
Monkey Farts Flavoring
So monkey farts is such an interesting name… this flavoring is very fruity with top notes of bananas and grapefruit. You can swap this out for any flavoring oil or leave it out it you prefer.
Lip Tint
The lip tint is completely optional, I used it in the blog post but in the video I didn’t. Personally, I tend to not add it in as I will put this on at bedtime, but you can definitely add it.
Tin Container
I like to use a tin container to hold this lip salve, as it’s a little too thick for a lip gloss container. I like this tin because it slides open easy.
