Sweety Tahiti Single Use Hand Soap

Single Use Soap

Single use hand soap have a host of useful applications, they can be used anywhere you have water. My hands are sensitive to most restroom soaps, so I like to bring my own soap as often as I can. These single use hand soaps also come in handy when camping and hiking. Just tuck a container of your single use soap in your bag and use them where ever you go.

cutting paper for soap

Water Soluble Paper– The most important ingredient to making single use hand soap is the Water Soluble Paper. The paper that you use dissolves in less than 30 second when it is exposed to water. The coolest part about this paper is that you can print on it, with either a laser or inkjet printer.

Melt and Pour Soap- I choose to use a Clear Melt and Soap Base for this project. You can definitely use a white soap base if that is what you have in hand, the final color will just be a bit more pastel.
When I was testing these, I was convinced that one dip in the soap would not be enough soap. Man was I wrong, it is way more than enough soap to wash your hands.

Mica Powder- For my single use soaps, I used an Aquamarine mica powder. Feel free to use any color that you would like.

Sweety Tahiti Fragrance Oil – I wanted my soaps to have a tropical beach vibe so I went with a Sweety Tahiti Fragrance Oil. You can easily swap this out for any skin safe fragrance oil, just take note of the use rate for your fragrance.

Making Single Use Hand Soap

Cutting the Paper

I used scissors to cut out the water soluble paper into shapes for my single use melt and pour soap. If you want to get fancy, you can print outlines of whatever shape you want to make and cut it out.

Preparing the Soap

Weigh out 2 ounces of clear melt and pour soap base. Place the soap base into a microwave safe container. Melt in the microwave in 10 – 15 second intervals (mixing well in between each interval) until the soap is completely melted.

Adding Scent and Color

Add 0.04 ounce Sweety Tahiti fragrance oil to your melted soap base and mix well. If you are choosing to add color, add a bit of aquamarine mica powder. Mix well. If you have any issues getting the mica powder to mix, just spray it with a bit of rubbing alcohol. This will break up the little mica powder clumps.

Dipping the Paper

Using a pair of tweezers, grab the corner of your paper. Dip the paper into the melt and pour soap. Remove the paper from the soap and allow any excess to drip off. I kind of shake it back and forth to get the excess soap off.

Spray the paper with the soap on it with rubbing alcohol. You want to spray it to pop any bubbles that might have formed on your single use soap.

If at any point you notice that your melt and pour soap is starting to harden up, just pop it back into the microwave for 2-3 seconds.

Dry

Hold the soap paper with the tweezers until the soap is dry. It is not going to take long at all for that little bit of paper soap to dry, maybe 10 seconds. Then set it on the wax paper to finish drying.

Repeat

You are going to continue to dip the paper into your soap base, spray with rubbing alcohol and drying until you have used up all the paper that you cut.

Storing

Once the individual use hand soaps have dried, just remove them from the wax paper. You are going to want to store the individual use hand soap in a sealed container. If you leave it out and exposed to the air, you might wind up with Glycerin Dew.
