This homemade lava lip gloss has a cool lava lamp effect. If your wondering how we get the “lava” effect, it is because of the different densities of the oils that we are using. The vegetable glycerin is more dense than our other oils, this is why it sinks to the bottom, creating the lava lip gloss effect.

Ingredient Overview
Caster Oil
Caster oil creates a layer on your lips which is a great way to prevent water loss. The fatty acids in the caster oil makes it a great moisturizer.
Vegetable Glycerin
Vegetable glycerin is the more dense than the other oils, which is why it sinks to the bottom. It is a natural humectant, meaning that it draws moisture from the air to your lips, adding hydration.
MCT – (Mid Chain Triglycerides Liquid)
The MCT oil – Mid Chain Triglycerides Liquid is an emollient that leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. It also has a long shelf life. Another name for MCT oil is fractionated coconut oil.
Mica Powder
You will want to make sure that the mica powder that you use is lip safe.
Making Lava Lip Gloss
1. Weigh out all of your ingredients.
2. To make the “lava” mixture, we are going to take the vegetable glycerin and mix it with the mica powder. Until the color is evenly dispersed.
3. Mix the caster oil and MCT together.
3. Fill the 3/4 of lip gloss container with the caster oil and MCT blend.
4. With a pipette take a small amount of the “lava” mixture.
5. Slowly add drops of the “lava” into your lip gloss container.
