DIY Tea Tree and Aloe Vera Toner Tabs

If haven’t already heard of toner tabs, prepare to be wowed! These tablets resemble a shower steamer, but for your face. The steam helps to open up your pores while the tea tree works to reduce acne. Plus, I love the smell of tea tree oil!

How to use a toner tab

You will want to get a bowl of steaming hot water.

Then, simply drop your toner tab into the water.

While the tab is steaming and fizzing, put your face over the steam. If you would like, you can also create a tent with a hand towel over your head to hold the steam in.

How to reuse the water

If you would like to get a little more out of these toner tabs, save the water for a few days. Simply put the water into a spray bottle and use on your face for upto three days.

Since it does not have a preservative, you do not want to save the water for more than a few days as it will grow some nasty bacteria.

Toner Tab Ingredients

Baking Soda

The baking soda allows us to make a solid toner tab.

Citric Acid

The citric acid and baking soda combination are what make the toner tab fizz when introduced to water. Think about the volcanos you used to make with baking soda and vinegar, this is basically the same thing, but in dry form.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.

Aloe Vera Powder

Is a great moisturizer that has been shown to approve the appearance of aging and dry skin.

Witch Hazel

The witch hazel is used to moisten the powder mixture and allow it to be shaped into the tabs. If you do not have witch hazel, you can also use rubbing alcohol. Do not use water as that will activate the fizzing.
