Customizing your Homemade Dry Shampoo for your Hair Color
DIY dry shampoo recipes for different hair types. You can customize the recipe to suit your needs.
For light to medium blond/gray hair: You can use straight arrowroot powder or cornstarch. If your roots are a bit darker, add a touch of cocoa powder to it.
For medium brown to dark brown hair: Mix unsweetened cocoa powder with cornstarch. If it is still not dark enough, you can add a touch of activated charcoal to it.

For black hair: Incorporate a small amount of activated charcoal into the shampoo.

Dry Shampoo Ingredients
Cornstarch:
Cornstarch is an amazing alternative to traditional dry shampoo. It is a natural moisture absorber and will effectively absorb oil when applied to your roots.
Activated charcoal:
Activated charcoal is highly absorbent. It will bind itself to the oil and soak it up, working to absorb excess oils, product buildup, and dead skin cells. Additionally, it is used to change the color of the final product, making it invisible when used in dark hair.
Cocoa Powder:
Cocoa powder is used to help to change the color of the dry shampoo, making it invisible when you use it.
How to use Dry Shampoo Correctly
Dip you kabuki makeup brush into the homemade dry shampoo.
Tap the kabuki makeup on the edge of the container to get off some of the dry shampoo. You want to be careful not to add too much of the dry shampoo to your roots.
Apply the dry shampoo to your roots.
Use your fingers to work it through your hair.
Style as usual.
