Island Oasis Candle with Vybar 260

The Island Oasis Candle is the perfect summer vibe candle. I added a bit of Vybar 260 to enhance the scent throw and I am in love. Literally, I am loving everything from the smell to the color and the jar with this candle. This candle is simple enough for even a beginner to make.

Although we are not using a lot of it, there are some real benefits to using Vybar 260. It helps to make the scent throw of candle containers stronger and enhances the color in the soy wax.

I am using Island Oasis Fragrance Oil, it has notes of citrus, coconut and grapefruit with a hint of vanilla.

I am using a Hexagon Candle Container, but you can use any container that you have on hand. When you are determining how much wax you will need, you will want to place it on your scale and press tare. This will bring the scale to ‘0’ while your container is on it. Now fill the container twice will soy wax. This is going to be roughly how much wax you will need to use for that container. (Typically it is over just a little bit.)

Another thing that will vary depending on your candle container, is the Candle Wick that you use. You want to be sure that you are using the right wick for your candle size, to get the best burn possible. I am using a wick that is made for a 2-3 inch candle.

Making Island Oasis Candle

Prepare Wax – Weight out your Soy Wax and place into the pouring pot. Add the Blue Candle Colorant and your Vybar 260. Place on a double boiler until it is completely melted.

Place Wick – Be sure that you clean out your candle jar. Place a small amount of hot glue on the bottom of the wick tab and place in the center of the jar. I found that the jar was a bit too deep for me to reach, so I just used something to push the tab down on the bottom.

testing the color for candle

Check Color – It can be difficult to tell exactly what the finished color of the candle will be, because it looks a lot darker when the wax is hot than it does cooled. To check the final color, place a few drops on a paper towel and let it harden. If you need to, add a bit more wax.

Scent – Add the Island Oasis Fragrance Oil and mix for at least one minute. You really want to give this a good stir to ensure that the fragrance oil and wax bind together.

Pour- Pour the soy wax into your container. Using a pen or sharpie, really anything that you have on hand, center the wick. Allow to cool completely.

Sink Hole – It is common to have a sink hole in your candle. Heat up the remaining wax in your pouring pot and pour it into the sink hole. You will want to pour enough to create a full layer on the top of the candle so you have a smooth top. Allow to cool completely.

Cut and Store – Trim the wick to 1/4 inch. Store the candle for 1-2 weeks to allow it to cure and then enjoy.
