🛁 Step 1: The Bath Bomb Base – Soothing, Fizzing, and Skin-Loving
Let’s start with the foundation: a fizzy bath bomb that softens your water, gently exfoliates, and leaves your skin feeling pampered. Here’s why we use each ingredient in this carefully balanced recipe.

📋 Ingredients & Their Purpose
- Baking Soda
Fizzy Softener
Baking soda is the main fizzing agent, but it also softens hard water and soothes the skin. It’s gentle and creates a satisfying base for the reaction. - Citric Acid
Fizz Creator & Skin Brightener
Combined with baking soda, citric acid triggers the signature fizz. It also acts as a mild exfoliant, giving the skin a smooth feel after the bath. - Cornstarch
Silkiness & Slow Fizz
Cornstarch slows down the reaction to make the fizz last longer. It also gives the bathwater a smooth, silky texture. - Kaolin Clay
Hardener & Detoxifier
A natural white clay that adds structure to your bath bomb while also drawing out impurities. It’s gentle enough for sensitive skin. - Shea Butter
Moisture Boost
Rich in vitamins and fatty acids, shea butter adds a luxurious, moisturizing feel to your bath without making the tub slippery. - Polysorbate 80
Clean Tub Helper
This emulsifier keeps your oils, butter, and colorants dispersed in the bathwater — so they don’t float on top or stick to your tub. - Fragrance Oil
Scented Experience
Just enough to give your cupcake a beautiful aroma without overpowering. Always use skin-safe, bath-approved fragrance or essential oils. - Witch Hazel (as needed)
Binder
Helps the mixture come together when molding, without prematurely activating the fizz. It evaporates cleanly after use. - Colorant
Adds color to the bath bomb and will color the water. I am using a water soluble dye but you could also use mica powder. - Mold
We are using a paper souffle cup as the mold for the bath bomb. It gives the cupcake vibe and is disposable.

💗 Step 2: Melt & Pour Heart Embed

These heart embeds aren’t just cute — they’re packed with skin benefits and personalization potential. Here’s a closer look at each ingredient and why it earns a spot in this sweet little soap topper for bath bomb cupcakes.
🧼 Glycerin-Based Melt & Pour Soap – Hydration Hero
This soap base is rich in glycerin, a natural humectant that helps attract moisture to the skin. It’s gentle, non-drying, and safe for most skin types — making it a perfect finishing touch to your bath bomb cupcake.
Mica adds shimmer and vibrant color to your embeds. Because it’s stable in melt and pour soap, your heart will keep its sparkle and stay bright until it’s used.
🌸 Fragrance Oil – A Scented Accent
Just a drop or two enhances your embed with a delicate aroma that complements your bath bomb and frosting. Always use skin-safe fragrance oil at the recommended usage rate.
🫶 Heart Mold – Easy & Reusable
A small silicone mold in a heart shape brings the final touch of charm. These molds are reusable, easy to unmold, and perfect for batch-making soap toppers.

Ingredients
- 1.96 ounce | 98% Glycerin-Based Melt & Pour Soap
- 0.04 ounce | 2% Fragrance Oil
Instructions
Melt the Soap Base
- Cut the melt and pour soap into small cubes and heat in a microwave-safe container in short bursts (10–15 seconds), stirring in between until fully melted.
Add Fragrance & Mica
- Stir in your fragrance oil and a small amount of mica powder. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the color and scent.
Eliminate Clumps (if needed)
- If the mica isn’t blending smoothly, spray the mixture with a little rubbing alcohol and stir again — this helps break up any color clumps.
Pour into Mold
- Carefully pour the melted soap into your heart-shaped mold.
Finish with Alcohol Spray
- Lightly spritz the surface with rubbing alcohol to remove any bubbles and give the top a smooth finish.
Let Set
- Allow the embeds to cool and fully harden before unmolding — usually within 30–60 minutes.
🍥 Step 3: Whipped Soap Frosting – Fun, Functional, and Foamy
Now that your base is drying and embed is made, it’s time to whip up a frosting that looks like buttercream — but acts like body wash! This part adds cleansing power and makes your bath bomb cupcakes look like a real treat.
