Foaming Sugar Scrub Made with A Whipped Soap Base

Making Whipped Foaming Cucumber Mint Sugar Scrub

With summer fast approaching, I wanted to make a foaming sugar scrub as I am all about exfoliating lately. Since it is made with a bath butter, it is light and fluffy. It is made using a combination of a whipped soap base and exfoliating sugar. Not only is it easy to make, it is also lovely to use.

Let’s talk about the ingredients:

Granulated Sugar

Granulated sugar in the scrub is going to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliating clears the dead cells which can clog your pores and make it harder for new cells to generate.

Whipped Soap Base

Whipped Soap Base is the soap for the scrub, it is also what is going to give you the whipped fluffy part of the scrub. You can either make this or buy it. I personally prefer to make it at home. The recipe that I used is a bubbly foam bath butter. If you prefer to buy it you can do so here.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is used because it’s just going to be washed away, I prefer to use the less expensive oils. The oil is going to leave your skin feeling moisturized.

Vegetable Glycerin

Vegetable glycerin is a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture from the air and helps to keep it on your skin. It can also help to pull moisture from deeper layers of the skin to the surface, combating dry skin.

Preservative

Optiphen Plus is the preservative that I am using. Although there is no water in this recipe, it is important to add one because it is likely that when using it water may be introduced to the scrub. However, the whipped soap base already has a preservative in it. So you will need to subtract that from the recipe when determining the amount of preservative needed.

This exfoliating scrub will leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed, enjoy!

How to use the sugar scrub

You can either scoop the finished scrub into a container or pipe it. I prefer to pipe it in, as it makes the finished product look better and it is not messy.

Notes

Although this scrub does not contain water, I add in the preservative in case water is introduced while using the scrub. When figuring out how much to use, remember that your whipped soap base already has a preservative in it; thus you will only need it for the rest of the ingredients.
