I am absolutely in love with how these diy bath truffle look. They resemble perfect little scoops of ice cream. For me, there is nothing more relaxing than a hot bath at the end of a long day. I love the feeling of breaking them up under the running bath water. The bath is quickly filled with bubbles and a luxurious mixture of skin loving oils.

Bubbling Bath Truffle Ingredients
Baking Soda and citric acid
The combination of the baking soda with citric acid create a bubbling effect when they come into contact with water. (Similar to bath bombs). The cool thing about when the reaction occurs is that the fragrance from the bath truffle is actually released into the air, making your whole bathroom smell delightful.
Cream of Tartar
SLSa (sodium lauryl sulfate) Coconut Oil and Cocoa Butter The butters help to give the bath truffles their shape. Since both of these butters are solid at room temperature, they help the shape hold after the truffles cool. Coconut oil and cocoa butter are also both emollients. Emollients soften and condition our skin. Although we don’t use very much polysorbate 80, it does make a big impact in our product. It helps to emulsify the oils in our water, so the bath tub is not all greasy. It is also going to prevent the oil from sitting on the bottom of the tub when you drain it. Mica is a natural mineral with shiny flakes. These flakes are ground into a powder, creating mica powder. I chose to use mica powder to color the truffles because I don’t necessarily want my bath water (and tub) colored. Feel free to use a different colorant if you want your bath water to be a vibrant color. Check out this bubble bar post for a color that dyes the water too. I love the little shimmer the glitter adds to these truffles. Biodegrade glitter really takes them up a level. If you are going to use glitter, make sure it is biodegradable. The last thing you want is to be sending little bits of plastic down your drain. When you get a cookie scoop, make sure it has a release trigger. If you have a scoop without the release, it will not work for this project, because it is the release trigger that makes these look so good. Texture is key when making these. Unlike bath bombs that have a wet sand type of consistency, they are going to feel wetter. The mix should feel more like playdough than anything. It should be moldable and able to hold its form. If you find that your mixture is a little too dry, melt a little bit of cocoa butter and add it a tablespoon at a time until you get to your desired texture. When you are scooping your mixture, firmly pack it into the scoop. Then wipe off the edges of the scoop. When you release the bath truffle, place the scoop barely off the freezer paper when releasing. If you release it too high, you run the risk of the truffle breaking on you.Polysorbate 80
