- Colorants:
- Pipping Bag / Tips
Why This Candle Works So Well
This design works because we’re layering textures and colors:
- Light coffee base
- Dark realistic embeds
- Fluffy whipped topping
That combination creates a true latte look while still burning properly.
Step 1: Measure Your Wax (The Easy Way)
Instead of guessing, we measure using water:
- Fill your jar with water to the spot where you want the candle base to stop at.
- Mine held 160 grams
- Multiply by 0.86
- 160 × 0.86 = 137.6g. To keep it simple, I rounded down to 130 g of soy wax

Why Multiply by 0.86?
Most beginners skip this—but it prevents:
- Overflowing candles
- Wasted wax
That small step makes your candle look much more professional. Since I learned this trick, it has completely changed my candle-making game! No more guessing when it comes to soy wax.
Step 2: Wick Your Jar
I used a thick glass jar (like a coffee cup).
- Attach wick with a glue gun
- If the bottom is uneven, apply glue to the rim of the wick tab
This helps it stay secure in tricky containers.
Step 3: Make the Coffee Base
- Melt 130g soy wax using a double boiler
- Add a small amount of:
- Brown dye
- Red dye
- Once melted, remove from heat
- Add coffee mocha fragrance oil
- Mix thoroughly
- Pour into candle jar.
- Center wick (Sharpie works great)

Step 4: Make the Coffee Bean Embeds
To make realistic coffee beans, follow this mold tutorial: How to Make Coffee Bean Mold
- Melt soy wax
- Add brown + black colorant (darker than base)
- Use a pipette to fill mold
- Let cool and remove
You only need a few beans.

Step 5: Make Cinnamon Stick Embeds
Mold tutorial: How to Make Cinnamon Stick Mold
- Use the leftover wax from your coffee beans
- Add a bit of tart wax for strength
- Melt and pour into molds
- Clean up edges once cooled

Step 6: Make the Whipped Wax Topping
This is what makes the candle stand out.
- Melt 180g soy wax
- Remove from heat
- Add fragrance oil
- Let cool slightly
- Mix with a hand mixer.
If you’re new to whipped wax, read this guide—it will make this part much easier: Learn How to Whip Wax For Candle Making

Whipping Tip:
Mix until it holds a soft peak (like whipped cream). You want the wax to stay however you move it with your spatula.

Step 7: Pipe the Topping
- Transfer whipped wax into piping bag
- Pipe onto candle
- Work quickly before it sets

Step 8: Add the Details
- Place coffee beans
- Add cinnamon sticks
Optional:
- Drizzle darker wax (syrup look)
- Grate wax (chocolate shavings look)

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Pipping whipped wax too soon → it won’t hold a shape
- Over-coloring → loses realistic look
- Not cooling wax enough before whipping → won’t hold shape
- Adding too many embeds → doesn’t look as good
Fun Variations to Try
Once you master this, try:
- Vanilla latte candle
- Pumpkin spice latte
- Caramel macchiato
These small changes can give you completely new designs.
