I have not got my haircut in what feels like forever. And on top of that, I really needed to do something to help hydrate my hair and calm down those pesky flyaways! I figured with summer just starting, everyone could probably use a nice diy hair mask recipe to bring the shine back to your hair. There is no water in this recipe, rather it is all oils, butters and specialty proteins and vegekeratin that your hair will love.

How To Use The Hair Mask
When I use the mask, I use it on my entire hair from the roots to the ends. The key is to make sure that every hair strand is coated with your mask to get the best results. Normally, I will cover my hair in sections and comb through it with a wide mouth comb. Then I pop my hair up in a bun for anywhere between a half hour to an hour. Then just wash it out with shampoo and enjoy!
Hair Mask Oil Phase Ingredients
BTMS 50: This is an incredible hair detangler that leaves hair feeling silky smooth. It is cationic (positive charged) and leaves a thin layer over your hair that will tame flyaways.
Caster Oil: I use this because it is said to be good for our scalp and reducing dandruff.
Coconut Oil: The saturated fats in coconut oil are able to penetrate your hair and replenish the lost moisture. Specifically, the medium chain fatty acids can, because they have a low molecular weight and a straight chained structure. Learn more about coconut benefits for hair here.
Shea Butter: Is good for dry or itchy scalps and for improving your hair’s shine.
Olive Oil: Great for moisturizing our hair and scalp.
Cool Down Ingredients
Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein: We use this because it is an amazing at hydrating and repairing hair. It will give hair better volume and control from flyaways.
Vegekeratin: This is a vegetable alternative to keratin. It does so many things: helps to strengthen hair, improves elasticity, increases shine, reduces frizz, reduces static, and makes it easier to comb.
Fragrance Oil: I am using a Bergamot and Mandarin fragrance oil. Feel free to use the fragrance or essential oil of your choice.
