What is whipped sugar scrub for?

If you’re looking for a way to add a little bit of luxury to your everyday routine, whipped sugar scrub is the perfect solution! Whip up a batch of this scrub using a whipped soap base and you’ll be able to give your skin a luxurious treatment that’ll leave it feeling soft and smooth.

This whipped sugar scrub is perfect for exfoliating as well as cleaning. It uses a whipped soap base that will wash your skin and granulated sugar for a gentle exfoliation.

Can I use the whipped sugar scrub on my face?

I would not recommend using a whipped sugar scrub on your face. The face is very sensitive and you do not want to use anything that could damage your skin.

How do you use a whipped sugar scrub?

When you are in the shower take a small amount of the sugar scrub, wet it and rub it between your palms. The scrub is going to start foaming. When using the scrub, use small circular motions on your skin. You always want to press lightly and let the sugar do its job, never apply a lot of pressure when using the whipped body scrub as it could damage your skin.

Should I use whipped sugar scrub before or after shaving?

It is best to exfoliate before you shave because when you exfoliate before shaving it allows you to get a closer shave.

What is the shelf life of a homemade sugar scrub?

The shelf life of any product that you make is going to be determined by your ingredients. You are going to find the ingredient that expires first and that will be your shelf life. Let’s say that you add Sunflower Oil and it has a shelf life of 2 years, and you opened it 20 months ago. This would mean that you have a shelf life of 4 months before that ingredient goes bad.

What is the formula for whipped body scrub?

Soap Base

You are going to use a base or whipped soap base (also called foaming bath butter). This is a gentle foaming blend of surfactants that is going to clean your skin while you are exfoliating. If you are feeling adventurous, check out how to make your own Whipped Soap Base. You can also buy the premade base.

Sugar

I have a love for the texture and exfoliating that I get with regular granulated sugar. The thing that I love about using sugar is it is going to dissolve after you use it.

M&P Soap and Glycerin

Adding the glycerin to the melt and pour soap makes the soap more pliable. This is used to harden up the whipped sugar scrub so it will hold its shape a little better.

Scents and Colors

It is optional to add a fragrance oil and mica powder. I like to because it really changes the sugar scrub and makes it look and smell better.

Does a whipped sugar scrub need a preservative?

The short answer is no. Since this  does not include any water you technically do not need to use a preservative. However, odds are you are going to be dipping your wet hands into it or storing it in the shower, for that reason I like to add a preservative.

Does a whipped sugar scrub melt?

This is one of the things that I love about sugar scrubs. As you use the scrub the sugar is going to slowly start to dissolve. You start out with a pretty good exfoliating then as the sugar dissolves you end up with just the bubbles from the whipped soap base.

How often should you use a sugar scrub on your skin?

If you’re looking for a delicious, indulgent, and exfoliating scrub, you need to make your own whipped sugar scrub. This scrub is perfect for all skin types. Typically we are not going to exfoliate more than one to two times a week. You want to use an exfoliator to get all that dead skin off but not so often that you disrupt your natural skin barrier.

How do you make a whipped sugar scrub?

Melt the soap base in the microwave in 10 second intervals.

Add the glycerin to the melted soap base and mix with a hand mixer until it becomes frothy.  If it gets too hard, pop it back into the microwave.

Add your foaming bath butter in with the glycerin and soap mixture. Mix this with your hand mixer until it is a light and fluffy consistency.

Add fragrance oil and mix again with the hand mixer to fully incorporate it.

If you are adding color, you can do this now. If you would like to add multiple colors, separate the base into different containers and color as desired.

Add the sugar and mix well. You are going to want to scrape the edges of your container with a spatula to ensure everything mixes in.

Place your whipped sugar scrub into a piping bag. You can scoop this into the jars, but I find that the piping bag is a cleaner process and the finished product looks nicer.

Pipe the mixture into your containers and enjoy!
