How do you deodorize a smelly carpet?

When you sprinkle the homemade carpet refresher on your carpet, the powder is going to bind to the odor causing substances. Then when you vacuum it off the carpet, those smelly substances come up with the DIY carpet deodorizer.

The addition of Island Oasis Fragrance Oil is used to help cover up the smells in your carpet.

Does baking soda really deodorize carpet?

Baking Soda

Baking Soda is known for its ability to absorb odors. This is why we put baking soda in the fridge.

Borax

Most people know Borax as a laundry aid (or a component to making slime) but it is an amazing absorber also.

How long does a DIY carpet powder take to deodorize carpet?

You want to make sure that the diy carpet deodorizer sits on your carpets for at least 15 minutes.

For best results, you want to vacuum your carpet to remove any dirt that is already loose before you use the carpet deodorizer. Sprinkle a generous amount of the DIY carpet deodorizer on your carpet. Use a broom or a brush to sweep the powder into the carpet. Wait at least 15 minutes, but I will normally wait a couple of hours and vacuum again.

The longer that you wait to vacuum the better the results.
