DIY Mango Lip Scrub

mango lip scrub

Mango lip scrub?!? You might be wondering if you should exfoliate your lips, or maybe you never thought about it.Don’t worry, you’re not alone. The answer is yes, you definitely should be exfoliating your lips! Your lips have a thinner layer of skin than the rest of your body. And they loose moisture fast.

You know when you get that flaky layer on your lips? It can feel like no matter how much lip balm you put on, it doesn’t seem to help? That is dead, flaky layers of skin cell build up that needs to be removed with exfoliating. Once you have those dead skin cells removed, the lip balm will actually be able to reach your skin to moisturize it.

Let’s take a look at our ingredients:

White Granulated Sugar

The sugar in this recipe will delight you with its gentle scrubbing power as it is a natural exfoliant. This can be substituted with any sugar that you have on hand.

Jojoba Oil

An amazing moisturizer that is quickly absorbed into our skin, leaving it feeling soft and hydrated. This can be substituted with olive oil.

Mango Flavoring

The word flavoring is sort of misleading here, although it does not have a flavor, it smells exactly like mangos! This can be substituted for any lip balm flavoring or even vanilla.

Mica powder

Completely optional…. use if you want to add a little bit of color to the lip scrub. Just be sure to use a mica that is safe for lips.

How to use the scrub

You will want to start by wetting your lips. The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends that you use small circular motions for about 30 seconds. Then you rinse off and apply lip balm of your choice.
