Bath Milk Ingredients

Phase 1

Epsom Salt

If often used in baths to help ease aches and pains. It’s INCI name is Magnesium Sulfate.

Fragrance oil

In this recipe I thought an Oatmeal, Milk and Honey fragrance oil would tie all the ingredients together. Feel free to swap this out for a different fragrance or essential oil if you would like.

Phase 2

Cornstarch

Makes the water feel silky smooth.

Buttermilk Powder

Said to have skin softening properties, due to it being high in fat and lactic acid.

Colloidal Oatmeal

This is used as a moisturizer in this recipe and it is known for its ability to help to relieve dry / itchy skin.

Phase 3

SLSa

A surfactant that is used to create rich bubbles that last in the tub. It is typically very mild, even on sensitive skin. However, the particles are very fine, so you might want to wear a mask and be careful when handling it.

Preservative Free

A cool thing about this foaming bath milk, is that it is in powder form. We do not include any water into our formulation and it is not likely to get into the made product so we do not need it. Now, if you were to actually be storing this in the bathtub, like a shampoo, then you would need to add a preservative to be safe.
