Benefits of using a sugar scrub

The main reason we use a sugar scrub is because sugar is a natural exfoliant that leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. Your skin feels really soft and smooth after you wash away all those dead skin cells.

How often can I exfoliate?

You can exfoliate up to three times per week, really anymore than that can irritate your skin.

Sugar Scrub Ingredients

SugarWhite granulated sugar is probably something that you already have on hand. It is important that you always use a fine grain for exfoliating, using a coarse grain can cause small cuts and damage our skin.

Herbs – I like to add some herbs to my scrub to add a splash of color and scent.

Essential Oils / Fragrance Oils – There are so many essential oils for you to choose from. Essential oils give our scrub a natural fragrance and lend a host of aromatherapy benefits. I used Morning Coffee Latte Fragrance Oil and in the rose sugar scrub a Tiger’s Blood Fragrance Oil

Jars – When you are using essential oils, I always recommend using glass jars. If you are using a fragrance oil, it is fine to use a plastic jar.

Variations

Have fun with your sugar scrub recipe and customize it with whatever ingredients you have on hand.

Exfoliating variations – Brown sugar, sea salt (fine) or coffee grounds.

Oil variationsFractionated coconut oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil or sweet almond oil.

Herb variations – Lavender, mint, tea, rose petals.

Essential oil variations – Lavender, lilac, peppermint, eucalyptus
